The painter Jean-Pierre De Greef is sometimes moved to tears by prehistoric art. He has always been touched by imprints inscribed in matter, those footprints of the history of the world. And, each of his paintings expresses his long confrontation with color and the surface of the paper. This process, starting with the fabrication of his own egg-tempera in studio, is followed by placing, erasing, scratching and reinforcing his materials. The work evolves until he obtains a "trace" with which he feels in harmony. |

Parfois ému jusqu’aux larmes par les vestiges préhistoriques, le peintre Jean-Pierre De Greef a toujours été touché par les témoignages inscrits dans la matière, empreintes laissées par l’histoire du monde. Et finalement, chacune de ses peintures témoigne de sa longue confrontation avec la couleur et la surface du papier : ce processus, commençant par la fabrication en atelier de tempera à l’œuf, puis fait de mises en place, effacements, grattages et renforcements des matériaux, évolue jusqu’à l’obtention d’une trace avec laquelle il se sent en accord. |
